Is a one-way truck rental the cheapest way to move out of state?
It’s true that rental trucks are a budget-friendly option for in-state moves, but driving one out of state is often more expensive than a DIY option like U-Pack.
For the same example from above, moving a 3-bedroom home from Dallas to Chicago, both of U-Pack’s equipment options were cheaper than rental trucks. U-Pack quoted 17 linear feet in a moving trailer for only $2,353 or 3 ReloCube moving containers for $2,396. That’s nearly $200 cheaper than U-Haul’s rates, and you don’t have to drive a rental truck!
