5 Thanksgiving Treats Almost Too Cute to Eat!

November 18th, 2013 - 3:38 PM

Thanksgiving will be here before you know it, and if you’re not bringing the turkey to grandma’s house, consider bringing one of these Thanksgiving treats that are almost too cute to eat!

1. Thanksgiving Teepee Cupcakes (photo from Stiesthoughts Blog)

Aren’t these teepees fun? All you do is turn a disposable aluminum baking pan upside down and poke a few small holes. Fill your sugar cones two-thirds full of cake batter and stand them up in the pan. Bake it at 350 for 10-12 minutes. Remove it from the oven and immediately snip off the bottom of the sugar cone. Take three pretzel rods and stick them on top of the teepee. Then, melt chocolate chips and dip the bottom of the teepee in the chocolate, then in green sprinkles (for grass) and leaves (for fall). Finally, take the melted chocolate and put it around the pretzel rods to hold them in place. You’re done!

2. Chocolate and Peanut Butter Acorns (picture and idea from Six in the Suburbs Blog

Chocolate and peanut butter…does it get any better than that? All you need to do for this sweet treat is to melt a ½ bag of mini chocolate chips, dip the flat end of the Hershey’s Kiss into the melted chocolate and top it with a bite-sized NutterButter. Then, dip the flat end of a mini chocolate chip into the melted chocolate and stick it to the other side of the NutterButter! For those with peanut allergies, just use a Ritz Bitz instead!

3. Oreo Turkeys (idea and photo from ourbestbites.com)

If this doesn’t scream cute, I don’t know what does! This treat might take a little more time, but if you’ve got the patience, the outcome is totally worth it! Take a double stuffed Oreo and give it a little squeeze of chocolate frosting, then stuff your candy corn around it for the feathers. Then, dab some chocolate frosting on the opposite end to secure it to the base of another Oreo. While those are hardening, unwrap your peanut butter cups. Take a sharp knife and cut a sliver off one end. Once the Oreos are dry, flip them over. Then, place some frosting on the peanut butter cup and on the cookie and attach. Then, attach a Whopper with the frosting as well for the head. Finally, use a dab of yellow frosting and attach the white tip of a candy corn for a beak. Put on two yellow dots for the yes and two black spots using the chocolate sprinkle. Once the beak is dry, draw on some yellow feet. Done!

4. Pilgrim Hats (idea and photo from womansday.com)

This is one of the easiest Thanksgiving treats you’ll find! Just get 16 chocolate wafer cookies, 1 tube of orange frosting (with piping tip) and 16 small peanut butter cups. Squeeze a dime-size dot of frosting in the center of each cookie and attach the peanut butter cups. Then, draw on a square buckle with the orange frosting. Quick, easy, and super cute!

5. Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats (idea and photos courtesy of Home Stories A2Z)

It wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without a pumpkin, right? Simply follow the rice krispie treats recipe on the back of the box. When the marshmallows are melted, add red and yellow food coloring until you’ve reached the pumpkin orange color you want. Stir the cereal in the marshmallow mix, rub some butter on the palms of your hands and start rolling the mixture quickly into balls. Put a tootsie roll in the center of each pumpkin and garnish with green frosting leaves. You could even place your pumpkins in a bed of crushed chocolate cookies for fun!
