2008 Moving Trends Report
Where's everyone going?
U-Pack Moving just released the 2008 Moving Trends Report. If you haven't read it yet, you should take a look. It gives some great information about where people moved to and from in 2008. Considering the state of the economy and the housing market, it has some very interesting statistics.
Moving to Texas?
If you're planning on moving to Texas in the coming year – you're not alone. According to the report, more people moved to Texas from within the U.S. than any other state in the union. Something good must be going on in Texas!
And just in case you're wondering these states joined Texas in the top ten list of states with high inbound percentages of moves: Hawaii, South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, Montana, Kentucky, Alabama, Oklahoma and Louisiana.
Most popular times to move?
In previous years, June and August were the most popular months to move – presumably because people wait until their kids get out of school to get packed up. But, in 2008 June and July were the most popular months – maybe because so many people are moving into southern states, and it gets really hot in the south in August!
So, what's the least popular month to move? Here's a hint people LOVE this month.
