16 Ways to Relax After Moving

October 29th, 2013 - 4:10 PM

Did moving leave you frazzled? Sit back and relax!

We feel your pain: you’ve been moving all day long. And whether the move took a few days or a few hours, to say you’re tired would be an understatement. You know what you need? A little relaxation. You deserve it. So forget about unpacking those moving boxes; you can get to that later (seriously, it’s not like they’re going anywhere!). Instead, give yourself a pat on back with these stress-free ways to relax.

  1. Dig through the wardrobe box and find your comfiest set of PJs and house slippers. Instant relaxation.

  2. Rejuvenate your exhausted body with a professional massage. A quick Google search can help you find a reputable massage therapist in your new town.

  3. Be a couch potato! Grab a pillow and set up camp on the sofa for a little downtime.

  1. Once you’ve got your cable or satellite utilities turned on at your new home, glue your eyes to the TV for a little while. You might get lucky and catch a FRIENDS marathon, or fall in love with Allie and Noah on “The Notebook” (for the 100th time).

  2. Put on your headphones on and let your favorite tunes drown away all the stresses from moving day.

  3. Get a manicure, pedicure, or both!

  4. Savor a delicious meal after a long day of moving by treating yourself to dinner at a nice restaurant. Who knows – you may just find your new favorite eating spot!

  5. Go on a walk around your new neighborhood or at a local park. Breathing in the fresh air can do wonders for unwinding after a move.

  6. Get lost in a good book.

  7. Sleep. Whether it’s in a hammock, on the couch, in the bed, or inside the fort you made out of empty moving boxes, catching some ZZZs is one of the best ways to relax after a hectic day.

  8. Take a long, hot bath or shower. Add some bubbles or aromatherapy oils to make the most of it.

  9. Believe it or not, exercise can actually be a great way to relax. Go for a run, bike ride, or to the gym to work off some steam. Burn calories and stress at the same time!

  10. Shopping is one of the more unique relaxation techniques. Even if you’re not looking to spend some cash, window shopping can still take your mind off the move!

  11. Waste Spend time on Pinterest by scrolling through creative ways to decorate your new place (and check out these funny moving-related  pins while you’re at it).

  12. Hobbies are one of the very best ways to relax! For instance, if you love photography and you think it could help you unwind, then snap a few photos to share with family and friends who are anxious to hear about how you like your new home.

  1. Play a video game, board, game, or game on your smartphone or tablet (just be sure to keep a charger close by—time flies when you’re having fun!).
