Moving from Las Vegas to Orlando means that you will eventually have to figure out how to get yourself there! If you plan to drive yourself to Orlando, be prepared for a very long trip. Las Vegas and Orlando are over 2,300 miles apart which can take about 38 hours total to drive. But if you’re up for some fun, you could plan a little vacation for yourself along the way since you’ll be passing by a few great cities. You can stop and take a visit in several cities along the way including Flagstaff, AZ; Albuquerque, NM; Dallas, TX; Shreveport, LA; Mobile, AL; and Tallahassee, FL.

Climate in Orlando

Orlando has a pleasant average yearly temperature of 73 F, which is slightly more than Las Vegas’s average yearly temperature of about 69 F. However, moving from Las Vegas to Orlando means that you won’t have to endure the extremely high summer temperatures of the desert climate in Las Vegas, but you will have to endure summer temperatures in the high 90s with much more humidity. In the winters, Orlando’s temperatures are very moderate, rarely dropping below freezing, which is slightly warmer than Las Vegas’s winter temperatures. Orlando also experiences a fair amount of precipitation, about 50 inches annually, with the most occurring in the summer.

Transportation in Orlando

Learning how to make your way around a new city is always hard, but moving from Las Vegas to Orlando fortunately means that it shouldn’t be too difficult. Both driving and public transportation are both very easy ways to get around Orlando. LYNX, in Orlando, is much like RTC Transit in Las Vegas, providing several buses all around the city as well as to five nearby counties. Orlando is also very easy to make your way around by driving since it is connected to several major roads including Interstate 4, several expressways and Florida’s Turnpike. Nevertheless, Orlando, much like Las Vegas, experiences heavy traffic on most days with the most happening in the morning and after 4:00 p.m.

Schools in Orlando

Moving from Las Vegas to Orlando can be difficult, especially if you have school-aged children; however, they should find it fairly easy to transition from going to school in Las Vegas to going to school in Orlando. They’ll be moving from a district that serves over 311,000 students to one that serves over 177,000 students. Orange County Public Schools serves the city of Orlando and is comprised of 126 elementary schools, 34 middle schools and 19 high schools. Along with the many public schools, Orlando is also home to many private schools as well as some of the best colleges and universities in the country, including the University of Central Florida.

Don’t worry that moving from Las Vegas to Orlando will mean that you’ll be missing out on things to do because Orlando is the place to be if you love to have fun!
