Coming from Dallas, you’ll be used to the dry, hot, humid summers in Vegas, and short, mild winters. But, due to the city’s desert-like climate, Vegas will get a bit hotter than in Dallas. However, there are more sunny days and, by comparison, Vegas gets more sunny days and less rain than Dallas.
How are schools?
Though fewer people live in Vegas than in Dallas, the city still has a robust public education system that provides service to more than 320,000 students. The city’s schools are part of the Clark County School District, which is the fifth-largest public school system in the country. If you’re looking for higher education, several colleges and universities reside in the area.
If the glitz and glamour of the city’s world renowned casinos and resorts aren’t your thing, Vegas has plenty of other entertainment choices. The city has a variety of public-use parks that are good for dog walking, hiking, picnicking, skating and other family activities. Want to get immersed in the city’s cultural scene? Las Vegas also has several art galleries, music venues and performance art centers. If you have kids, they’ll love to spend some time at Fremont Street (home to the largest video screen in the world) or at the Discovery Children’s Museum!
