The Cleveland Metropolitan School District averages a daily attendance of 38,725 students. The district is comprised of 96 schools: 23 high schools, three K-5 schools, 66 PreK-K-8 schools, and one 6-12 school, 8-12 school, K-12 school, and 2-12 school respectively. The School board is appointed by the mayor, not the city. If you’re looking for higher education, the city has plenty of colleges and universities to choose from: Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland Institute of Music, Cleveland State University, and Cuyahoga Community College.
