Newcomers to Fort Stewart

All newcomers must sign in at Fort Stewart upon arrival. Wounded soldiers and MEDDAC soldiers must check-in at Mower Processing Center on Harmon Ave. All other Soldiers check-in at the Marne Reception Center at the intersection of Harmon Ave., Hase Rd. and Soldier Pony Ave; plan on spending a few days here for in-processing.

Housing is available for Soldiers and their families. The Balfour Beatty Communities offers on-base housing for Fort Stewart personnel and family members, as well as single Soldiers. The goal of the housing division is to provide the best possible housing for all members on and off base while maintaining positive relations with the surrounding community.

For newcomers moving to Fort Stewart with pre-school and school-age children, the base offers child care services at the Fort Stewart CDC and youth activities for students in grades 6-12 at the Youth Center. The Department of Defense Education Activity operates three elementary schools, and the Liberty County School System operates eight elementary, three middle, and two high schools.

Newcomers will also find plenty of other services to make military life easier for all members of your family. On-base you’ll find services through the Family Readiness Group, medical and dental services,         Red Cross, deployment readiness, education programs, and so much more.
