Forestiere Underground Gardens
For 40 years, Sicilian immigrant and self-taught artist Baldassare Forestiere hand-crafted a network of underground rooms, courtyards and passages inspired by ancient Roman catacombs. The creation spans three levels and also houses a collection of fruit trees, shrubs and vines, some of which are more than 90 years old. Visitors can tour this historical landmark year-round.
Join the passionate “Red Wave” in cheering on the Fresno State Bulldogs. The Bulldogs compete in 16 NCAA Division I sports and have won national championships in baseball and softball. Former Bulldog standouts include MLB All-Star outfielder Aaron Judge, NBA All-Star forward Paul George and NFL quarterback Derek Carr.
Proximity to National Parks
Fresno is the only metropolitan area in California centered between three national parks — Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia. All are within a 90-minute drive.
Head six miles northeast of downtown Fresno to the city of Clovis and visit Old Town. This historic and quaint district is filled with antique stores, retail outlets and restaurants. It also hosts regular events and has a year-round farmers market.
