U-Pack has ReloCubes®, not PODS®

October 28th, 2009 - 11:00 AM

Just to clear up some confusion, the portable storage containers U-Pack offers for moving and storage are called ReloCubes® – the containers that PODS® provides are called, well... PODS® containers. While they share some similarities (i.e. container is delivered to your home, you load, container is delivered to your new home, you unload – and storage is available) there are definitely some differences in the U-Pack service and PODS®.

Cheapest Moving Truck Rentals

October 13th, 2009 - 10:16 AM

Always looking for a deal
It seems like everyone is looking for the cheapest moving truck rentals these days.  And why wouldn't they? Penny pinching is what's "cool" right now. I would wager a bet that if you picked up a magazine from a news stand today, you would find a helpful article titled something like: "Ways to save", "Top 10 things you can do to cut back", or "20 painless money-saving tips".

Moving Companies - Choosing the right one

August 31st, 2009 - 1:34 PM

Working for a moving service makes me overly conscious of what questions should be asked when choosing moving companies. It's kind of like how mechanics know what to look for when your car doesn't run and how realtors know what to do to sell your house quickly – when it's what you do, it's what you know.

So, I try to put myself in the shoes of the person who has never moved before - just to consider all the questions that surface when choosing moving companies.

Here's the beginning of my list of questions people ask (and my answers)…feel free to add more!

Military Move

Military Move with U-Pack
When you're doing a military move, it can sometimes be a "hurry up and wait" affair. You may know that you're moving from Camp Pendleton in two weeks, but not know where.  You might also know that you'll be moving to Fort Campbell, but have no idea when. This can create quite a problem with most moving companies. It's easy to get movers in Fort Hood, Texas but if you find your destination is Fort Greely, Alaska they may not be so readily available – then you're out of luck.

Portable Storage

July 15th, 2009 - 1:09 PM

OK, so you just bought a new house involving a cross-country move and you got a great deal on a rental truck. Sure…you have to drive it. But it's cheap. Here's the bummer though – the sellers won't agree to let you move in early and you don't have anything to do with your things during the "in between" time of moving out of your old place and into the new.

Staging for an Open House - House staging tips from U-Pack

July 8th, 2009 - 10:49 AM

Staging for an Open House

Are you thinking about selling your house? Then you'll need to learn, memorize, and frequently repeat the Staging Motto (embarrassing yes…helpful yes…sometimes you do what you gotta do).

The Staging Motto:

"In order to please the masses, I will create a house that is clean, simplistic, and updated. This is no longer all about me, but rather selling this house and maybe making some money on the deal."

Shipping Regulations To and From Alaska

June 19th, 2009 - 4:28 PM

So, you're moving to Alaska and you've found that U-Pack is the easiest, most affordable way to get there.  If you've done your research, you probably already know that it's ok to move smaller items with gas engines in an ABF trailer or ReloCube (like ATV's, chainsaws, weed eaters, mowers and motorcycles).  What you may or may not know is that shipments moving into and out of Alaska are randomly inspected at the port, and if the shipment is not in compliance with Coast Guard shipping regulations, you run the risk of being fined in excess of $700 f

The Storage Solution

By Michael
June 12th, 2009 - 3:34 PM

In the beginning there was just you. And all was well. Then you got stuff. And then more stuff. Suddenly you realized what storage meant. Storage would free you from your stuff. Not forever; just until you needed it again.

Storage is a wonderful thing for people like you. People with stuff. Stuff you sometimes need to put into storage.

Perhaps you haven't thought about storage. That's probably because you haven't needed to move.

Because here's the thing about stuff: it turns into baggage anytime you need to move. Baggage is something to be avoided. If someone says, "Whoa, you've sure got a lot of baggage." It's not meant to be a compliment.
