The Right Moving Boxes and Supplies For Your Move

Packing for a Long Distance Move
There's a big difference between moving across town and moving across the country. Besides the extra time and expense, you also have to pack differently.

The nice thing about moving locally is that you can pack almost any way you want and not worry about it too much. You're only looking at a few minutes of travel time, so drive slowly and you're home free! When you are moving across the country, the rules change a little bit. Every item needs a secure place in your trailer or ReloCube.

Moving Truck Parking

By Jeremy

Ask permission first, not forgiveness later...

Although the forgiveness route may work with some things, when a parking violation is on the line I wouldn't suggest it! City governments like to know what is being parked on their streets and if they don't approve, you could end up with a ticket. This is clearly not something you want to deal with when you're trying to move.

Save yourself a headache (and money) by calling your city hall or local police department before you move

I've hosted many garage sales in my life. Some have been a money-making success and some such a total flop that afterwards I promised never to have another one again! I've got to admit though, when they flop, it's always because I didn't advertise or put much effort into it. So now I am a BIG advocate of advertising.

Here are some good tips for advertising your garage sale when you're moving:

So, whether you're moving into a new house, or you just need to organize the one you have, here are some tips and suggestions to help you maintain a kitchen you'll want to show off!

Finding Child Care in a New City

January 6th, 2009 - 8:39 AM

I've got two amazing kids – a 3 year-old and an 8-month-old. Thankfully, I had the good fortune of working and going to church with other moms and dads who could make child care recommendations when my maternity leave ended. Even so, it was a really difficult choice. I can only imagine what a daunting task it is when you're moving to a new city and don't know anyone who can make a recommendation.

So, here are some tips for finding child care in your new city:

If you think about it, moving is as hard for kids as it is for adults. They're leaving behind familiar places and important friends just like we do. And, they're faced with a lot of "new" things, like finding new friends and starting a new school – that can be scary!
