Founded as a resort town in 1871, Colorado Springs is still known as a place for recreation. The city has over 9,000 acres of parks and 500 miles of biking, hiking and horseback riding trails.

It is also home to Pikes Peak, the most visited mountain in North America and inspiration for the song “America the Beautiful,” written by Katharine Lee Bates in 1893.

The city is in an active area for hailstorms known as “Hail Alley,” but you’ll also find plenty of pleasant weather to enjoy the outdoors.
