Because of Southlake’s location near the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the city is a major center for the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Southlake’s average yearly temperature is a moderate 63 F with average lows in the winter dropping to the low 30s and average highs in the summer rising to the mid-90s. Much like the rest of Texas, summers in Southlake are marked by high temperatures and humidity, and winters are mild with little to no snow. Southlake also experiences an average of 33.7 inches of precipitation each year with the most occurring in the spring and fall months.

Southlake Education:
Most of the city of Southlake is served by the Carroll Independent School District, which consists of eleven schools and was rated “Exemplary,” the top rating given by the Texas Education Agency. The district has a total enrollment of over 7,800 students with a 99% graduation rate and has a total of five elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools and two high schools. Parts of Southlake located in Denton County are served by the Northwest Independent School District, the very east of the city is served by the Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District and the very west of the city is served by the Keller Independent School District; however, most children who live in Southlake attend schools in the Carroll Independent School District.

Transportation in Southlake:
Southlake’s close distance from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, only about a twenty minute drive, makes traveling to anywhere in the world a breeze. Getting around Southlake and to nearby areas is made easy because it is linked to several major highways including Highway 114, FM 1709 and FM 1938. Driving is the preferred way to travel around Southlake while public transportation is rarely used by the majority of residents.

Located in the heart of Texas, Southlake is home to some great places where you can get anything from Tex-Mex to authentic Southern cuisine to great pizza.
