Looking to rent a trailer for storage?
If you’re moving long distance and you need storage in transit, U-Pack is an easy solution. Just load your belongings into the trailer and store them there until you’re ready for delivery. It’s a great way to avoid the work involved with loading and unloading at a traditional storage facility. Let’s take a look at what you can expect from U-Pack trailer storage, including how it works and how to get a quote.
How U-Pack Trailer Storage Works
When you move in a trailer, your price is based on the linear footage your belongings take up inside the trailer, and storage rates are per trailer, per 30 days.
- We’ll deliver the trailer to your location (or you can save money by loading at the local service center)
- Load your belongings inside, secure them, and install the secure divider wall
- We’ll pick up the loaded equipment and store it at a secure service center
- Call to schedule a delivery appointment when you’re ready for delivery
- We’ll deliver to your location
- Take up to three business days to unload
- We’ll pick up the empty storage trailer when you’re finished
Storage Trailer Size
Externally, the trailer is 28’ x 8’ x 9’ (LWH), and internally its 324” x 96” x 108” – perfect for moving and storing larger shipments. Read more about trailer size.
If you need storage for a small shipment, the ReloCube is a good option. It’s a 6’ x 7’ x 8’ container that sits flat on the ground – you can reserve as many as you need, and pay only for the ones you use.

How do I pay for my storage trailer?
U-Pack doesn’t require a down payment or deposit to make a reservation. Simply use a credit or debit card to reserve your move, and nothing is charged until you finish loading and know exactly how much space you use. Your first payment includes transportation costs and the first 30 days of storage, and then the card on file is charged for storage each subsequent 30 days.
How early do I need to reserve a trailer for storage?
While it’s best to reserve your move 2-3 weeks in advance, we can normally accommodate short notice moves. Call us at 800-413-4799 to check availability.
How much space does the trailer need for parking?
A trailer similar to the one pictured below will be delivered to you for loading. We can park it in your driveway, on the street or in a parking lot – whatever works best for your needs. To park it, it’s important to secure at least 40 feet in length (about 2 ½ to 3 car lengths) and verify that there’s an overhead clearance of at least 14 feet. Learn more about trailer parking.
