Always pack boxes with heavier items on the bottom and lighter on the top. Spread the weight - don't put all books in a box put books or heavy items in the bottom put some lighter items on the top. Fill the boxes as full as possible to prevent shifting and collapse. Tape each box.
Don't pack boxes too heavily if possible - be sure you can lift it. Mark it with the room name. Put those heavier boxes on the bottom to avoid crushing or shifting.
If loading yourself be sure to pack high and tight. And always be sure to securely tie the load.
