Moving to Eagan, MN?
Just like the people who already live here, you’ll love it in Eagan! CNN Money ranked the city 15th in their list of America’s Best Small Towns in 2010, and it’s easy to see why. Eagan is full of natural beauty and graced with a warm hometown feel. It’s located in Dakota County, less than 20 miles south of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul Metro area, and though it began as a small farming community, Eagan has grown rapidly into the ninth largest city in the state – home to over 64,000 residents.

What to expect after moving to Eagan, MN
The weather in Eagan. Like most of Minnesota, if you’re a fan of snowy winters and sunny (but comfortable) summers, Eagan is the place to be! If you’re moving to Eagan during the winter months, don’t forget your cold-weather gear; temperatures have been known to dip into the teens, and don’t be surprised to see heavy snow fall from December through March. On the flip side, if you’re moving to Eagan through the summer months, you can expect temperatures that linger in the low to mid 80’s.

Getting around in Eagan. The great thing about a city like Eagan is the easy commute; you can get to just about anywhere in the metropolitan area within 30 minutes. If you’re moving to Eagan without a vehicle, or just like the ease of public transportation, the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority (MVTA) provides bus service that connects Eagan to other Twin Cities communities. For information on bus routes and schedules visit www.mvta.com.

Having fun in Eagan. Some of Eagan’s charm comes from the fun, family-friendly activities offered in the city – especially if you’re a fan of outdoor activities. The city boasts over 110 miles of trails, over 50 parks, and space for basically any activity you can imagine, including: canoeing, biking, hiking, ice skating, tennis, soccer and more! And since Minneapolis and St. Paul are so close, even more fun is possible! You’ll enjoy the world-famous Mall of America, the Minnesota Zoo and Valleyfair Amusement Park – they’re just a short drive away.

Getting an education in Eagan. The city of Eagan is served by three independent school districts: District 196, District 191, and District 197. To determine the school district for your area, visit the School Attendance Boundary Search at www.isd196.k12.mn.us.
