Due to restrictions by the condo association, I was forced to unload in one day, requiring a same day pick up and drop off. The service center requested that I unload in an hour so that the driver could wait. We arranged for a lunch-hour delivery. I called the service center and was told that the driver was arriving at 1PM. I asked that I be called if that time changed and received a snippy response from the dispatcher saying that this was my confirmation and the driver would be there at 1pm. I had 6 coworkers with me to unload (in the middle of the business day) to facilitate the quick transfer. When the truck hadn’t arrived by 1:20, I called and was told by another dispatcher that the driver was late and that they must have overlooked calling to notify me that he was late, despite my request. The driver arrived 45 minutes past the confirmed time. As we agreed that it would only take an hour or less to unload, he dropped the cube in the fire lane outside my apartment, with the understanding that he was waiting for the cube and would be there in case someone objected to its location. After he dropped it, he told me that he was needed in Calabasas (about 15-20 minutes away) and would be back within the hour. I was uncomfortable with him leaving because of the illegal location of the cube, but he assured me again he would be back in 60 minutes. When my group finished unloading, by about 2:30-2:45pm, the driver still had not returned. I called the service center again, and was told that the driver had just reached Calabasas (it does NOT take 45 minutes to get to Calabasas) and would be about 45 more minutes. I was stuck waiting with the empty cube for another hour because of its location in the fire lane and no way to move it. The driver did not return until 3:45, 2 hours after he initially arrived and an hour past the promised return time. There is no logical explanation for this due to the proximity of Calabasas to Oak Park. I feel it was unprofessional to be almost
