The New York City Department of Education runs the city’s public schools. More than 1.1 million students are taught in over 1,700 schools within the city. Many students attend private schools. There are specialized schools such as Murry Bergtraum High School, which is a business high school, or LaGuardia High School of Music and Art, which the movie Fame was based on. There are private schools catering to many different religions and educational frameworks as well.

Transportation

Most New Yorkers take public transportation. There are cabs, buses, subways, and ferries that can get you anywhere you need to go within the city.
