Kansas City to San Diego

All contacts with ABF representatives were very positive. Our delivery person here in San Diego stands out, though. I was not here for the delivery, but my husband had nothing but wonderful things to say about his helpfulness and welcoming nature. We were moving from Kansas City to San Diego and he made sure to tell my husband about many of the great things we can look forward to here.

The person who set up the move in San Diego - Karen Hook - was great. She answered all my questions and was very patient in explaining the process and all options. The whole process was as great as a move could be. We plan to use ABF for our next move!

Sunny San Diego!

Highly recommend the Gas Lamp District if you’re visiting or moving to San Diego! What a beautiful, sunny city. Visited the San Diego Zoo yesterday and it totally met my expectations. Many of the animals were sleeping or basking in the sunshine...we got to see pandas, polar bears, rhinos, hippos, monkeys and a whole lot more.

San Diego--the Gaslamp Quarter

If you’re moving to San Diego or just visiting, you need to check out the historic Gaslamp district. Lots of unique shops and some of the best food I’ve eaten (try Sloppy Joey’s for pizza or Los Panchos for great salsa).

Gypsy Moth Issues
Heidi
The only issue I had was with the Gypsy Moth Inspection Checklist required by the state of California. One of my Relo-Cubes was randomly selected for inspection, and on my gypsy moth checklist I had disclosed houseplants and firewood as contents in a cube, neither of which are legally permitted to be moved into the state of California. I felt frustrated because the inspection necessitated cutting the lock from my cube and my cube was detained 4 days beyond the date it was supposed to arrive in San Diego, and it all could have been avoided if I had been informed when I faxed in my checklist, over a week before my move, that houseplants and firewood should not be included in my cube. I don’t at all fault ABF for this issue, but since they do require the checklist to be filled out a week in advance, it would be really nice if they could share those checklists with the Department of Agriculture ahead of time so that other customers could be spared the aggravation and inconvenience I went through with the whole inspection process, which required my relo-cube being transported from California, back to Arizona, and then back to California, with delays that could have been avoided with adequate communication between different staff members at the Department of Agriculture. The people at ABF were EXTREMELY helpful, pleasant, and responsive as I dealt with this issue, and I am extremely appreciative. I would certainly move with them again, in spite of all the issues with this particular move. My one piece of constructive feedback is that the customer should not be charged for inefficiency at the Department of Agriculture - and I was not (thank you!!!) - but it was mentioned to me during several conversations with ABF that I may be liable for the fees to transport my cubes back and forth. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, ABF. Your customer service is OUTSTANDING.
