I used ABF for a military Do It Yourself (DITY) move, packing just under half my household goods into 2 ReloCubes. I was pleasantly surprised with the reservation process, especially when told that they could drop off 2 cubes at my address, just in case (I had reserved 1), and I would only pay for what I used. That gave me a huge peace of mind, knowing that extra space was there if I wanted/needed, but I was not locked in. Because of that, I decided to move as much as I could (and only leave the big/awkward stuff for the Army to move!) and filled both ReloCubes. Pickup was a breeze; I had already flown home for leave, but I didn’’t have to be there; I just called the terminal in Dothan, AL. I really appreciated the extra days allowed to pack the containers. The in-transit storage option was also very helpful for me, since due to training and Christmas leave, I wouldn’’t reach my destination for 2 months. It saved me a great deal of hassle, had I gone with my original plan of renting a Penske truck and driving there myself. My move was stressful enough on its own, and ABF helped take some of the burden from my shoulders. I have not yet found out what the Military will reimburse me for my move (it is based on weight), but even if I only break even (many people do DITY moves as a way to earn extra cash beyond the incurred expenses, in exchange for the physical labor involved), it was well worth it! My items had not moved AT ALL when I opened my cubes in TX; they looked as if they’’d been stationary the whole time, and I loved the freedom of being able to pack them myself, as I saw fit. Full-service moving companies require that they pack all boxes, otherwise they can’’t cover any breakage; I understand this, but since I was putting everything straight into storage, I wanted everything to be as compact as possible, and ABF made this possible.
