The highest summer temperatures can reach into the high-80s while the lowest winter temperatures drop to the mid-30s. Livermore has an average yearly precipitation of 14.6 inches with snow being almost nonexistent. Livermore’s mild temperatures all year long make it ideal for many outdoor activities. Education in Livermore: The Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District serves Livermore public schools. The school district is comprised of nine elementary schools, two kindergarten through eighth grade schools, three middle schools, five high schools and one adult school. Additionally, Livermore is home to three private schools. For higher education, Livermore offers Las Positas College where students can take courses for several different Associate degree programs. These programs often prepare students to transfer to a four-year institution. Livermore is also home to a campus of the University of Phoenix where students can study in several different fields to pursue their associate, bachelor’s or master’s degree. Livermore Transportation: Livermore’s main interstate is I-580 which connects the rest of the San Francisco Bay Area to the west. Highway 84 also passes through Livermore heading southwest from I-580 to Fremont. Livermore also has a transit system called WHEELS on which adults can ride for $2.00. WHEELS makes stops at several local businesses as well as nearby cities. Dining and Nightlife in Livermore: Because wine has been a very important industry in Livermore for many years, the city has some of the best wineries in the state. For a unique date night or a fun activity with friends, visit one of Livermore’s finest wineries such as Boaventura de Caires Vineyard, McGrail Vineyards and Winery or Bent Creek Winery. Livermore also has a wide variety of ethnic cuisines to try out such as Uncle Yu’s at the Vineyard, the best Chinese food in town; Terra Mia where you can taste all of your favorite classic Italian dishes cooked to perfection; and Casa Mexico where you can experience a fun atmosphere, sip on their signature margaritas and munch on their amazing chips and salsa.
