That was the case for Aviva Samson when she moved. Her adopted kitten Charlie become lost when she moved to a new place, according to 24PetWatch. While exploring his new surroundings, Charlie became lost. However, since Samson's pet had been implanted with a microchip, the lost kitten was found and returned to his owner.
Margo Mountjoy, Samson's mother, said "you rarely hear stories of lost cats being reunited with their owners; I can't stress enough how important it is to microchip your cat."
Other steps that can be taken in order to protect family pets from getting lost while moving include putting a visible tag on its collar with owner and contact information as well as registering them with a pet database, 24PetWatch advised.
When moving with pets, owners should take extra precautions to their particular needs, including having enough food and water and storing them in a comfortable place.
