The apartment itself covers just over 5,600 square feet, plus another 4,500 square feet of space outside, including a bamboo grove.
"Henry was the first person who saw it," Ivan Prochko, the broker who sold Henry the apartment told the paper. "He viewed it three times in two days. After that, we had an accepted offer."
The transaction for the $14.85-million apartment will actually take place in two stages. The paper reports that Henry purchased the first two floors of the property for $9 million, and put another $5.85 in an escrow account for when the tenant living there moves out over the next few weeks. It was originally listed at $17.5 million.
Henry - who was considered one of the best players in the game for years - excited soccer fans across the country when the 33-year-old signed a multi-year contract worth $5.6 million per year with the New York Red Bulls of Major League Soccer earlier this year.
