Beth Koutsky and Jacques White’s 1924-vintage three-bedroom home will be moving with them in a couple of weeks to new location about a mile from where they currently live, reported the Seattle Times.
Moving an actual house is not a new idea. However, it does make relocating a bit more complicated. “Streets have to be closed, no-parking signs have to be set out well in advance, and arrangements have to be made with power, cable and telephone utilities,” the Times said.
“Even a city arborist gets involved, checking to see whether any trees along the route need to be trimmed.”
While this vintage home wasn’t built as a portable home, some are. The number of consumers opting to purchase a prefabricated house because of its affordability and eco-friendliness is rapidly increasing. They are constructed off-site and delivered to the property of the owner’s choosing.
