Moving with a pet requires advance planning.
Moving with a dog changes the dynamic of the relocation process. When flying overseas with one, owners want to make sure that their pet is well taken care of and comfortable for the ride.
Animal Airways, an international veterinary institute, has recently upgraded its service of shipping and tracking dogs worldwide that is specially geared towards those working in the military or civil guard. Along with making sure that a person's dog is comfortable and safe, the company says it's able to manage "all regulatory and logistic challenges including veterinarian aspects relevant to dog transportation."
Head veterinarian for Animal Airways, Dr. Eytan Kreiner, said the company "recently managed several complicated operations .... under extraordinary tough conditions, as well as under extremely tight schedules," which has allowed them to improve upon the services they are able to offer those relocating with pets.
If moving to another country, such as Canada, Mexico or a European destination, pet owners should make sure their dogs are up-to-date on all vaccinations. They may even want to consider having a microchip implanted in the animal as a way to track them in the event they are lost in the relocation process.
