That's exactly what some Michigan residents have been telling their friends and family. Later this month, tenants will be moving into the newly renovated Durant Hotel, the Flint Journal reported. Close to one-third of the almost 100 apartments have already been pre-leased, with renters eagerly anticipating their relocation.
Many see the renovation of the Durant Hotel into apartments as a step towards revitalizing the community. Flint Mayor Dayne Walling told the Journal "This is about expanding the energy from downtown into every part of the community. This is a real anchor for this community."
The population of the Durant Hotel apartments will consist largely of University of Michigan-Flint students and Hurley Medical Center professionals, according to the Journal. Those looking to lease out one of the remaining places are looking at monthly rent prices ranging from $475 to $960. Rooms include marble counter tops, carpeted and tile floors, and washer/dryer units.
August is a busy moving time for college students. They can cut down on relocation costs by using a portable storage unit.
