A U.S. Postal Service facility in Richmond, California is telling 21 of their workers they must either move to another office in either Los Angeles or Bakersfield. If they don't make the 300-mile move, the workers will lose their jobs, ABS-CBNnews.com said.
USPS spokesperson Augustine Ruiz told the news website that "what we're offering the workers is a chance to continue their employment even during hard economic times. The workers must be assigned to where there is more mail volume, where they're needed more."
Besides being concerns about being uprooted from their family and friends, many of the Postal Service workers are worried about the costs associated with moving. There's only a month left to decide if they will relocate, and that time would be well-spent researching affordable options.
For those that do move, they should consider renting their own moving trucks or portable storage units as a more economical option.
