There are many lakes that could be good fishing spots in California.

There are many lakes that could be good fishing spots in California.

Fishing enthusiasts may feel out of their comfort zone when having to relocate their moving boxes to a new area. This is because they will be away from the ponds, rivers and lakes they are used to catching their best fish. However, if you are in this position, there are always new places in your new area to get back to relaxing on the water. Moving to California opens you up to many opportunities to fish, and you may just find the perfect location to get the exact type of fishing you desire.

Lake Tahoe
One spot that may be perfect for California fishing is located on the Nevada border. Lake Tahoe is quite the popular spot as a resort area, and the angling opportunities abound. According to FishWithJD.com, the lake has a number of different fish types, including both brown and rainbow trout. There are also plenty of kokanee and mackinaw to take in throughout much of the year. If you get tired of sitting on the lake all day, the many amenities in the resort area may keep you busy for a while.

Dixon Lake
If you are in the Escondido area, it may not be a bad choice to check out the local lake option. Dixon Lake has plenty to do, and you may be happy with what you find underneath the water. According to Game and Fish magazine, this area has a sizable number of trout, and it is routinely stocked with the fish.  The lake life can get quite large in this body of water, and there are many different types of lures you can use in order to be successful here.

Lake Almanor
Traveling up to Northeast California will bring you to another one of the Golden State's top lake offerings. This is the home of Lake Almanor, another body of water with a wide-ranging amount of fish. This could be a fun spot to check out, as it is filled with brown trout, as well as plenty of rainbow trout, according to FishWithJD.com. Bass are also popular here, and if you are a fan of that type of fish, you will be in luck, as it has a sizable number of smallmouths here. When heading here, most of the year other than winter can work for good fishing, but you may really benefit from checking out this area during the summer.

Morro Bay
If you are near San Luis Obispo, there may be a great coastal fishing option right at your fingertips. Head on over to Morro Bay to try your luck with some saltwater fish. Specifically, there is a sizable number of rockfish in the area, according to Game and Fish magazine. The spot has other fishing options, too. While the smaller rockfish are plentiful, the coastal area allows for cod and halibut fishing.  This may be best to get on a charter boat in August, as this time of year could be the perfect time to reel in a catch.

Clear Lake
Another spot in Northern California is good, especially for those who happen to live in the San Francisco area. According to FishWithJD.com, this spot could be perfect during the springtime. During this period, there are more fish looking for food, and you won't melt from the heat during the summer. That doesn't mean that the lake is barren the rest of the year. It is possible to get good fishing in at any time of the year, but the cooler months right before and after the winter could be best.
