There are plenty of camping areas located in South Carolina.

Camping is a popular summer activity, and if you love to hang out under the stars, it is likely this will play a role when packing and looking at a new place to live. There are many of these areas available around the country, but if you plan to bring your moving containers to the Palmetto State, you may be in luck. South Carolina has plenty of great camping options, and this could help make your decision to move to this area even easier. Look through some of the following locations, and if they seem like good places to start, then you may want to contact your moving company.

Hunting Island State Park, Beaufort
One good spot that you may want to try first is located on the shore of the state in Beaufort. This area is Hunting Island State Park, and it has some interesting options. According to Gorp.com, this park has 4 miles of great beaches, and there are plenty of opportunities to camp, with 200 sites available. The proximity of the campsites to the beach may make this even better for those who want to enjoy a unique camping experience.

Myrtle Beach Travel Park, Myrtle Beach
There could be one spot in the state that is the most popular, and it's a reason. There are many options to enjoy the warm weather in Myrtle Beach, but if you want to go camping, it may be a good idea to check out the Myrtle Beach Travel Park. According to The Travel Channel, this spot has quite a lot for just camping. Here, it is possible to go fishing, send the kids off to a day camp and even enjoy dancing and other nightlife activities. This could be a great idea if you aren't into roughing it as much as others.

Cherry Hill Campground, Mountain Rest
If you head toward the Georgia border, you will come across another campground that may be quite fun. According to Gorp.com, this area was previously the home of a local settler, but was converted into a campsite. One benefit of this location is that it does have running drinking water, as well as a showering area, which can make it easier if you bring friends or family who aren't as used to being outdoors. The location has plenty of fishing, and there are many opportunities to hit different bodies of water.

Paris Mountain State Park, Greenville
For those living near Greenville, you may want to check out Paris Mountain State Park. This spot is open throughout the year, according to SouthCarolinaParks.com, which can make it an attractive place to visit no matter when you are thinking of going camping. If you are looking for paved camping areas, this is the spot for you. It also is the home of multiple trails, so you can bring your hiking boots, if you'd like. Some of the camping areas are very close to these spots, as well.

Leroy's Campground, McCormick
One of the state's smaller camping areas still may have plenty of great options for you and your family. Drive over to McCormick, and you will come across Leroy's Campground. This spot is located next to Lake Thurmond, and according to Gorp.com, this gives you a few options. You can spend the duration of your trip doing anything from boating on the lake, fishing or just relaxing by the water. It is a less organized option from some of the state's other campgrounds, but this could make it more fun of a trip for you.
