Madison, Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin-Madison is located in the city, and it has a sizable portion of the total city's population. It is located in the heart of southern area of the state, which can give you easy access to other areas.

Ann Arbor, Michigan
There are also multiple other great spots located in Michigan to get the college experience. Another great choice is Ann Arbor, which is the home of the University of Michigan. The school is one of the top centers for education in the country, and it is the main feature of the town. This could be a place that may be perfect for you if you plan to live around a major university. The town also has some smaller institutions such as Concordia University, Ann Arbor.

East Lansing, Michigan
Similar to Ann Arbor, heading north to East Lansing could be another good decision. The city is notably smaller than Ann Arbor, but it is right next to the Wolverine State's capital of Lansing. Those who are looking for a college in the city can check out Michigan State University, which is a main fixture in the city. Those who are looking to get a law degree would be able to travel to Lansing, where there is the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.

Columbus, Ohio
Ohio is another state in the Great Lakes area with plenty of college towns and opportunities. If you are thinking on checking out a city here, it may be a good idea to start with Columbus. The city is located in the central part of Ohio, and it is the home of Ohio State University. This may be a good choice if you prefer highly populated cities.

Buffalo, New York
Another city that is known for college in the region is Buffalo. The Western New York city has many colleges including Canisius College. It also has multiple members of the State University of New York school system, one being the University at Buffalo and another being Buffalo State College. The city is also not far from Lewiston, which is the home of Niagara University. Its location is also not far from the Canadian border, as well as Niagara Falls, so there may be plenty to do both inside and outside of the city.
