Fun abounds while visiting Newark

Newark is the home of multiple fun activities.

Newark is the home of multiple fun activities.

New Jersey is a great spot to consider for your next relocation, and it's for a number of reasons. Not only does it take up a notable portion of the East Coast, but it is within a short distance of many major cities. This can make the Garden State great as a base to travel, but it still has many great activities located in the state. If your moving company is going to bring moving boxes to Newark, you will have many different things to do locally, which could be quite fun.

Newark Museum
One place you may want to visit with you family first is the Newark Museum. This is the home of many items that could be interesting for both parents and kids. According to VisitNJ.com, the venue has been in existence for more than 100 years, and it has more than 80 different sections related to science and the arts, alone. Additionally, it also has a planetarium and even a zoo. This may be a spot that you could visit multiple times to get to everything.

Liberty State Park
Families who enjoy public parks may really have a good time while in Newark. One of the most notable offerings in the area is Liberty State Park. According to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, there are many things to do here including fishing, picnicking, and boating. If you are interested in seeing Ellis Island, take a ferry from the park. This will allow you to visit the landmark no matter what time of year it is. Situated on the Hudson River Estuary, you may have an interesting time visiting this location.

Riverfront Stadium
If you are looking for a spot to spend a fun night out, then heading to Riverfront Stadium may be that location. This is the home of the Newark Bears, which plays in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball. According to VisitNJ.com, this venue has more than 6,000 seats, and you can see Manhattan from your seat. Whether you want to see the Bears play, or are more into the college game - both Rutgers University (Newark) and the New Jersey Institute of Technology  play here - your option are numerous.

Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge
Another option near the city can provide you with some good fun exploring the outdoors. Head on over to the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, which has more than 7,000 acres dedicated to a wildlife sanctuary, according to MHNSaves.com. Here, you can walk the trails that span approximately nine miles. There is also many different plans and animals, which you may be able to see different options throughout the year on multiple visits. The refuge is only 30 minutes west of the city, so it could be a good place to spend the day on the weekend.

Branch Brook Park
A park that is located right in the city may also be something of interest to you. Check out Branch Brook Park, which is open every day of the year, according to the park website. It has approximately 360 acres of places to explore, and you can hang out here with your family from the break of dawn until 10 p.m. It is the home of a number of items with natural beauty that can range from cherry trees  and multiple streams, ponds and even lakes. Fishing here may be a fun activity with the kids, or even by yourself.
