According to the article, several divorced couples always hit a snag when selling their home typically due to unwillingness of one of the spouses to sell.
Scott Weeda, a Seattle-based real estate agent who specializes in divorce, told CNN the majority of his divorcing clients refuse to cooperate with one another, and therefore "navigating the transaction can be tricky."
However, Weeda added most couples want to sever ties as quickly as possible, and thus sell the home fast, according to the article.
Carol Ann Wilson, an expert in divorce financial planning, stated in the article she checks sellers' backgrounds more closely if a home sale involves a divorce, stating buyers "should back off" if they sense the couple selling could draw out the process.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the divorce rates for married couples in America in 2007 was 5.4 divorces per every 1,000 people aged 16 to 64, down from 6.2 divorces per every 1,000 people in 2000.
