The 2012 Home Ownership Satisfaction Survey included more than 1,400 homeowners from around the nation. Only 24 percent of homeowners surveyed said price appreciation was the main reason for their satisfaction. The most popular reasons were the pride of ownership and freedom to control what type of home improvements and upgrades go into their house.
“The HomeGain 2012 National Home Ownership Satisfaction Survey shows in spite of declines in the values of homes nationwide, satisfaction among homeowners remains high at 72 percent, with nearly three of four homeowners satisfied with home ownership,” said Louis Cammarosano, general manager of HomeGain. “Of the 28 percent of surveyed homeowners who indicated they were unsatisfied, 63 percent cited price depreciation as the primary reason.”
With nearly three out of four homeowners pleased about owning a home, individuals who were on the fence about buying a new house may now feel more confident to go through with the purchase. Combine this newfound confidence with the market's current low prices and relocation companies may be in store for a busy 2012.
