Families that have always wanted to relocate to Florida may want to consider settling down in Pompano Beach.
This sunny destination once had restrictions on where families with children could rent a home. However, those limitations have been lifted in some areas because of an agreement with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The real estate firms Cornerstone Residential Management and the Oaks at Pompano have agreed to make their living quarters more family-friendly through scheduled improvements, HUD said. Families with kids will also be receiving $30,000 in rental assistance because of this agreement.
Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity Assistant Secretary John Trasvina said "This settlement takes significant steps to further fair housing, make units available to families, and promote a positive living environment. Ensuring fair housing for all at the local level has a significant national impact."
When relocating with children, parents should involve them in the move as much as possible. To ease their stress, kids should be told early on about changing homes. This, along with giving them helpful tasks, will help them adjust to this major change in their lives.
