Some homeowners opt to hire a professional home stager, but this is something that can be done without one and at a substantially cheaper price. For as little as a $150 investment, consumers can spruce up their homes and make it more attractive to buyers, financial website Bankrate.com said.
The first thing homeowners want to do is to put away personal items. Florida Realtor Jennifer Radice told the financial website that "the reason you want to 'de-personalize' your home is because you want buyers to view it as their potential home." People should store photos and religious items.
Radice also told Bankrate.com that "you want your home to show like a model." This includes decluttering a home by packing away items and putting them in portable storage areas. "Pack up 90 percent of your home," Radice added.
With mortgage rates continuing to stay at record low levels, a successful home staging can help push a buyer towards purchasing a home.
