Accenture adding Chicago jobs

A number of companies recently have announced the addition of jobs in Chicago.

A number of companies recently have announced the addition of jobs in Chicago.

Moving trucks may be a common sight in Chicago through 2012 as consulting firm Accenture became the latest company to add jobs in the city, it announced with Mayor Rahm Emanuel on October 11. The company, which has its largest office in the Midwest city with more than 5,000 employees, will add 500 jobs.

"We hire highly motivated and talented individuals with well-developed skills, and that's why Accenture embraces the diversity of the talent pool that a city like Chicago has to offer," Jorge Benitez, Accenture's U.S. chief executive, said in a statement.

The company's announcement follows news that Merge Healthcare will add 200 jobs in Chicago. Since Emanuel took office in May, he's announced about 7,000 new jobs in the city with Walgreens, Chase Bank, SeatonCorp, Ford, Motorola Solutions, United Airlines, GE Capital and more.

The average listing price for Chicago homes in the week ending September 28 was about $378,000, down 1.1 percent from the previous week, according to Trulia. The median sales price from June to August 2011 was $217,500, an 11.2 percent year-over-year decrease.
