Website removes moving stress for military families

For military families, dealing with relocation can sometimes seem like a never-ending ordeal - particularly over the summer. But as the Military Community and Family Policy eMagazine writes, one of the government's websites can make the transition easier.

MilitaryINSTALLATIONS, or MI, allows families to search for various links and services near almost 400 military locations. Whether they have a question about housing, food or even a good local daycare center for their children, military families can find the site a valuable resource during the move.

Even members of the National Guard or Reserves who don't live near a traditional base can take advantage of the website. By looking at resources available in their state, they may be able to find area services that they didn't even know existed.

Military families go through the moving process far more often than most. VeteransAdvantage.com reports that while the average American moves 11 times in their life, military families move roughly once every two years.
