In advance of her upcoming talk show on Oprah Winfrey's OWN network, Rosie O'Donnell is preparing to move to the north side of Chicago. She's under contract to buy a $2.5 million five-bedroom home in the Lakeview neighborhood.
The 6,000-square-foot home is being sold by an OWN executive, who is including all the furniture at the request of O'Donnell, a "Rosie Show" audience member told the Chicago Tribune. The host told the audience about the home during a test taping of the show, which premieres October 10.
The home's five bedrooms and five-plus baths will be home to O'Donnell and her four children. She shares custody of the children with her former partner, Kelli Carpenter.
"I am going to head out (to Chicago) at the end of July and be there for the rest of the summer," O'Donnell said on her radio show earlier this year. "Then, starting in September when the kids go to school, Kelli has them a week, I have them a week. We'll do a week on, a week off."
The home also has a 2,000-square-foot rooftop deck, home theater and sports-themed bar. The median sales price of a home in Lakeview is $351,000 - more than 60 percent higher than the Chicago average of about $218,000, according to Trulia.
