Texas is a popular place to move to because of its low unemployment rates.
A recent survey found that when it comes to deciding on an area to move to, the number of people choosing Texas is growing.

Texas pushed California out of its former number one spot to third in Relocation.com's consumer moving survey. Rounding out the top five states to move to were Florida (second), North Carolina (fourth), and Georgia (fifth).

It turns out that consumers are drawn to Texas because of its low unemployment rate, according to the survey. Reported at 8.5 percent for June, it's lower than the national average of 9.5 percent.

People are also moving to the Lone Star State because of more stable real estate prices, the survey found. Compared to the rest of the country, Texas was relatively unscathed by the collapse of the housing market because of the smart lending practices of financial institutions.

Texas was also recently named the best state in the country in which to run a business by Chief Executive Magazine. This pro-business state with reasonable regulations beat out Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina for the top spot.ADNFCR-3450-ID-19878688-ADNFCR
