Zillow.com's Trick-or-Treat Housing Index ranked Seattle as the best city for candy-gathering in the country, and cities in California, Oregon and Colorado occupied each off the next five spots. Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Philadelphia were the only four East Coast cities to make the top 20.
While parents aren't going to base their moving decision on whether their children can come home with the best candy, the index does include a number of things they likely do factor into their relocation plans. The scores were based on four major factors: home values - because wealthier households are believed to give out the best candy - crime, housing density and the walkability of local neighborhoods.
Family and children play a very significant role in any moving decision. Census data shows that more than 26 percent of moving families cited family reasons as the main cause of their relocation.
