There are many ways to keep those helping you motivated when moving.
Your family may be more than willing to help you during the moving process, but unloading and unpacking your things can make a person lackadaisical. There are some methods you can use to keep everyone motivated and not in the way.
It is important not to hound your friends and family members who aren't going 100 percent during the move, as it could have the opposite effect. You don't want a person to feel regretful that they extended their help. If they don't seem like they are doing much, ask them to do another project. While someone may seem sluggish putting boxes in the respective rooms, it may help if they go and take large furniture out from the moving container.
If you have successfully convinced family members to take part in the move, and you lured them in with incentives for the end of the day, remind them kindly that it is important to get everything done quickly so the fun can begin. By doing this, they may be more motivated to get the work done.
You will likely have happier helpers if you go out of your way to keep offering them drinks and snacks during the move. Moving can take a lot out of a person, so keeping them energized and hydrated will keep them working at full ability.
Keep in mind that not everyone will be able to do everything during the move, and assigning them tasks they will struggle with may hurt their drive to help out. Smaller and elderly people may not be able to efficiently or safely move objects. This is important, as injuries can happen, as well as damage to your home. Try to give tasks to those who can best take care of them. With so much going on, everyone will likely be occupied with something.
Finally, make sure that you are doing something at all times. If you are the pacesetter, everyone else will take notice and work hard, as well. However, if you dawdle and look disinterested, your friends and relatives will not make as much of an effort either. Remember that they are doing you a favor. If you keep this in mind, your move will go much more smoothly, and you can celebrate afterward.
