As part of National Homeownership Month, the Metropolitan Regional Information Systems is working towards making it easier for families to live in a home that they own. The company hopes to achieve this goal by working with Washington, D.C. nonprofits and real estate professionals.
By having those who work in the real estate industry share their customers unlikely success stories, MRIS is hoping to inspire others to go the extra distance in helping other consumers achieve their goal of homeownership. The company will also be donating money to the D.C. area nonprofits Manna and AHC, which are affiliated with Neighborworks America. These organizations assist people working towards owning their own homes.
MRIS chief marketing officer John Heithaus said that "the purchase of a home embodies the American ideal of success, and organizations like these make this dream a reality for many families and individuals."
When buying a home and moving to a new area, consumers should not only take into consideration property values, but also the costs associated with utilities and homeowners insurance.
