Moving Day Tips

July 10th, 2012 - 10:36 AM

I’ll go ahead and admit that things were a little crazy the last time we moved. Granted, it was before I worked at U-Pack, so I wasn’t as up-to-speed about the proper techniques. But I still thought we had it together. There were plenty of people there to help us load, which was great. But that also meant a lot of extra vehicles in the apartment complex parking lot (a no-no) and the front door being left open a lot (resulting in our dog escaping and evading capture for a long, long time). Talk about a hectic and stressful day. If I had only known then what I know now – things would have turned out completely different.

What are my options for moving companies and storage when I move?

July 9th, 2012 - 3:21 PM

Does your move require storage? If so, as you're getting moving quotes, the first question you should ask is, "do you have storage options?" If they do, the next question should be, "how does it work?" While this hasn't always been the case, you'll likely find several moving companies offering moving and storage options these days. And with so many options available, it's easy to feel like you're in over your head. My goal is to help you wade through each option and make the best choice for your specifc needs.

10 reasons why moving is good for you

July 3rd, 2012 - 1:27 PM
After living in a small town all of my life (even through graduate school), my husband and I moved to a city a little over an hour away to begin careers. I lived in different places during the summer, but always returned back to my hometown for fall college classes; so as you can imagine, I was a little nervous about moving to a new place for longer than two months. Now that I’ve lived in this new place for a while, I’ve realized that the move has been good for me in many ways.

Are there websites with reviews on moving companies?

July 2nd, 2012 - 2:19 PM

I love using online reviews, and I have a feeling I’m not alone. What people have to say about products and services I’m planning on purchasing has a huge impact on my decision to take the plunge. If we’re traveling, I always look up reviews for hotels and restaurants in the area. If I decide to get a haircut at a new salon, I never walk in the door without searching for reviews – who wants to walk out with a horrendous style.

How much does moving cost?

June 29th, 2012 - 2:57 PM

If you’ve been trying to answer the question, “How much does moving cost?” with a straight-forward answer, you’ll end up frustrated every time, simply because the real answer is, it all depends. It would be difficult, impossible even, to find someone who is moving the same belongings, on the same day, from and to the same place you’re moving. Your move is truly one-of-a-kind, so the price of your move is going to be one-of-a-kind as well. Here’s what your moving cost depends on:
