The Canfield Fair

The largest county fair in Ohio has celebrated the area’s rural roots for nearly 175 years. Artists and entertainers who have performed there include Johnny Cash, Bob Hope, Kenny Rogers, The Beach Boys, Willie Nelson and The Band Perry.

Mill Creek MetroParks

Outdoors enthusiasts can enjoy 4,400 acres of lakes, hiking and biking trails, golf courses, historic sites and more available throughout the area. Lanterman’s Mill, one of the county’s leading historic landmarks, was built in the mid-1800s and still operates today, grinding corn, wheat and buckwheat in traditional fashion.

Old-Fashioned Christmas in the Woods

This October festival, considered one of the country’s top arts and crafts shows, draws thousands of visitors each year to a backdrop of scenic woods and fall colors. The event features more than 200 vendors and exhibitors, live entertainment and, of course, delicious food.

Butler Museum of American Art

The first museum dedicated to American Art, the Institute holds more than 22,000 individual works from thousands of American artists. The earliest piece is a portrait from 1719!

Take in a Game … or Several

Football in Ohio is a serious pursuit and at Youngstown State University, the Penguins are a perennial NCAA power. Hockey fans can go see the Youngstown Phantoms, a top junior team, and the Mahoning Valley Scrappers are a minor league affiliate of Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians.
