What's all the hype about Moving Containers?
Really, they're just a pretty cool way to move. And I'm particularly partial to the U-Pack moving container – the ReloCube®. They're the "in" way to move these days. And who doesn't want to move the "in" way? I know you're wondering why they're so "in". Here's my guess – These days people are looking for convenience, ease and most of all, ways to save money. Since that's what you get with a ReloCube, it makes sense that people love them.
Get to know your new city
So you're moving to a new home or apartment. What's next? Once you get there, you can't just stay in the house all day. And come on, you aren't going to be at work all day either. What do you do after work and on the weekends? How are you supposed to meet people? You need a strategy to learn the area and have some fun.
Get out of the house.
Start by checking out the local newspapers and area entertainment magazines to find events that interest you. Then start taking advantage of the local attractions like parks, libraries, museums and coffee shops.
More than likely you're already familiar with DITY moving (do-it-yourself). But, just in case, I'll give you a quick run-down:
You need to think outside the box. Whoever said that was not getting ready to move. Moving is all about the box. Make that, "boxes," because you'll need a lot of them to move. In fact, you can't move without boxes. At least not if you plan to take anything with you.
When it's time to move, you better be thinking inside the box.
Let's face it, we've all been concerned about money since the economy went south in September. (We're all looking forward to Spring in hopes our 401k and investment accounts migrate back up with the birds!) At U-Pack, we get calls daily from folks who are moving because of a company change such as downsizing, consolidation or sadly, a closure.
We're proud to offer a service that's free from worries about hidden fees or extra costs. If you're on a moving budget – ABF U-Pack Moving is the solution.
Are your moving expenses tax deductible? It's tax time!
If you've determined that your moving expenses are tax deductible, you'll need a copy of your U-Pack delivery receipt. We understand that often in the shuffle of moving, the original gets misplaced. So, if you need a copy of your delivery receipt – with the total moving cost for your U-Pack move - we can help and it's easy.
Not sure if you need a parking permit in your city?
It's a good idea to check it out – because some cities require that you have obstruction or parking permits.
Why get a parking permit?
If you're considering Alaska moving companies, I'm sure you've already thought about how to move your household goods, your vehicle(s) and your family. ABF U-Pack moves hundreds of people to Alaska each year. It's an easy and affordable option for moving to Alaska.
Like a full-service mover – ABF does all of the driving – but you'll pay MUCH less for a U-Pack move since you do the loading and unloading and you pay only for the space you use.
New Place, Same Old Stuff
Just think a new place, a new job, a new set of friends you get a brand new start! A new home to live in and to decorate is going to be so much fun!
But, wait. The same old furniture is following you. Before you get too sad, I've got a few good ideas to try to jazz up your new place.
Packing for a Long Distance Move
There's a big difference between moving across town and moving across the country. Besides the extra time and expense, you also have to pack differently.
The nice thing about moving locally is that you can pack almost any way you want and not worry about it too much. You're only looking at a few minutes of travel time, so drive slowly and you're home free! When you are moving across the country, the rules change a little bit. Every item needs a secure place in your trailer or ReloCube.
Ask permission first, not forgiveness later...
Although the forgiveness route may work with some things, when a parking violation is on the line I wouldn't suggest it! City governments like to know what is being parked on their streets and if they don't approve, you could end up with a ticket. This is clearly not something you want to deal with when you're trying to move.
Save yourself a headache (and money) by calling your city hall or local police department before you move.
By now if you haven't heard that home sales are down considerably, well, you're probably living under a rock. Selling a house in this market has turned into a daunting task. But the fact remains, some homes are still being sold. So how do you make sure your home is one of the chosen ones?
Great tips for how to sell your house:
If you're moving to Puerto Rico, there are some taxes and customs procedures that you will have to keep in mind.
