Part of that process is submitting certified weight tickets. Skipping this key step can be the difference between getting paid back and covering the cost of the move yourself. It must come from a certified scale or weigh station. During a PPM, the government requires empty and full weight tickets to calculate your reimbursement accurately. The tickets are only valid if they include the following information: - Date - The name and location of the scale - Vehicle identification (may include make/model/license depending on the scale) - Weighmaster’s signature - Weight - Your name and any required information based on the branch (rank, SSN, etc.) ## How to get weight tickets for a military move If you’re moving with U-Pack, getting weight tickets for your [military move](https://www.upack.com/moving-services/long-distance-moving/military-moving) is no big deal. If you’re driving a rental truck, the weight ticket process is more complicated since you’ll have to handle it yourself. Each weigh station sets its own prices, but tickets typically cost around $10 each. Here’s what you’ll need to do: ### 1. Locate a certified weigh station If you need help finding the closest stations, talk to the Transportation Office (TO). You can also use a CAT Scale® locater to find the nearest certified location. ### 2. Weigh the empty truck This can be done before loading or after unloading, if the TO does not specify when it must be done. ### 3. Return to the station to weigh the loaded truck Weigh the truck while it is filled with your household goods (HHG). Check with the TO about item restrictions, such as RVs or motorcycles. Drivers, passengers and any unauthorized items should not be weighed. If you’re making multiple trips with a rental truck, you’ll need ticket sets for each trip. ## When to submit weight tickets to the TO After the move, you’ll submit the original weight tickets to the TO along with the rest of your PPM paperwork for reimbursement. ### What happens if I forget to get tickets or lose them? Contact your TO as soon as possible for instructions.
