Moving tips from Ed Sanders - brought to you by ABF U-Pack Moving.

Okay friends, having travelled from London to Chicago, Chicago to California, I feel like I'm more than qualified to give you all some moving tips so here goes.

Tip #1: Decide what you no longer need. Since you pay for the space that you use with U-Pack, you can save money by not moving the stuff that you no longer want. It's like my mom always said, "Save a dollar, make a dollar." Except it was more "Save a pound, make a pound" cause I'm from London not America.

Tip #2: Ask about off-peak moving days because certain times of the week, days of the month, and also holidays can be a lot more expensive and a lot busier in the moving world. You can save yourself a ton of money if you can avoid these dates if at all possible.

Tip #3: Don't forget to ask about discounts. If you're a student or in the military, you could save yourself some cash, because every little bit helps when you're moving. Yes sir it does.

Tip #4, friends: Be sure to pack high and tight. Now not only is this going to save you space, but it's going to save you money as well. And it will prevent shifting when your load is in transit. And also remember - tie down your stuff nice and tight. I tell you what; I can't wait for tip #5.

It's already Tip #5: Be sure to save all of your moving paperwork in a safe place after you move. You'll be so glad you did, friends, once tax time comes around. And don't forget to talk to your financial or your tax advisor about possible deductions because everyone loves talking to their tax advisor.

Tip #6, friends: Be informed. You know if a moving company offers you a deal that sounds kind of shady, or asks for a deposit, or presents an offer that sounds too good to be true, it's because it probably is. Check them out first. Either visit movingscam.com or contact the Better Business Bureau or forget all of that and just go with your friends at ABF. I did and look at this smile of happiness.

Tip #7, friends and it's our final one: Reserve your equipment early because moving tends to be seasonal and equipment - it kind of tends to go fast around the most popular times to move, which seem to geared towards the weekend and towards the end of the month. However at ABF U-Pack, there is no deposit and there is a very lenient cancellation policy. So go ahead friends, reserve your space today.
