Warner Brothers moving jobs from New York to Hollywood

DC Entertainment is moving to more closely merge with Warner Brothers.

DC Entertainment is moving to more closely merge with Warner Brothers.

DC Entertainment, which owns the rights to Superman and Batman, has announced it is moving many of its jobs from New York City to Hollywood, as it works to become more closely integrated with its parent company, Warner Brothers.

Many of the jobs moving west will be in the company's digital content business, while its printing and publishing divisions will remain on the East Coast. The Los Angeles Times reports that DC Entertainment officials had seriously considered moving the entire company to California.

Officials said that a number of layoffs would likely result in the move, but didn't say exactly how many employees would be moving. The relocation is expected to be completed by the end of next year.

Reuters reports that DC Entertainment has been working to become more closely integrated into Warner Brothers in advance of its latest movie release next summer - Green Lantern. The move could also pave the way for the company's iconic characters to move into other Warner Brothers brands, such as HBO.
