The statistics show that in October there were a total of 437,295 job postings for retail positions, a number that is up 68 percent from September, according to the report.
Paul Forster, chief executive of Indeed.com, said, “We are seeing more seasonal jobs this year than last and we are seeing more job postings overall. Of the 12 industries that we track, eight of them are up more than 50 percent.”
The report showed that, among 30 cities surveyed, New York topped the list of best cities to find seasonal work with 5,831 jobs, which was followed by Washington, D.C., Houston, Los Angeles and Chicago.
The New York State Department of Labor showed that the state’s economy added 40,500 private sector jobs in October. That was their largest monthly increase since April 2005, showing that the surge in seasonal job postings has benefited job-seekers as well as the economy.
