The paper says that WalkScore.com - a website the rates the respective walkability of various areas - has added a Transit Score for neighborhoods in 40 major U.S. cities, including Boston, Seattle and Washington, D.C.
"Transportation costs are often the second highest expense for working Americans and Transit Score will give families more control over their household budgets by providing them with information about their transit choices," Benjamin de la Pena, an associate director at The Rockefeller Foundation, which co-funded the tool, told USA Today.
Many famous locations received very different scores. While the White House and Times Square each rated a perfect 100, Seattle's famous Space Needle received just an 88.
